“One Sunday afternoon, not much more than four hundred years ago, a boy named Pip walked into the woods.”That is the first line of Bearkeeper, a fast-paced adventure set in the dark and dangerous streets of Elizabethan London.
Bearkeeper is the story of a boy and a bear. They meet in London in 1601.
It was a bad time for bears: every day, people paid a penny to enter the Bear Gardens and watch bears fight dogs, men and one another.
It is a bad time for Pip too: his father is dead and his home has just been robbed. He heads to London, determined to get his revenge. But he finds a lot more than he had expected.
